When your job is to inspire new designs of everyday objects like it is for industrial designer and car enthusiast Nolen Niu (who works with Andaz, Google, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and a slew of celebrity clients), you're always looking for that spark of creativity—and often times it comes from the ordinary. "I like the unknown," says Niu. "I like to be surprised." And, before work in the early morning hours when the veil of fog is just starting to lift over Los Angeles, he sees his city in a new light.
